Workmen's Compensation is the payment of weekly cash benefits and the reimbursement for necessary medical care to a covered worker who is disabled because of accidental injury or occupational disease incurred in the course of employment and, in the case of death resulting from such injury or disease.
In order to administer the provisions of the regulations, it is necessary that any injury sustained by an employee be reported immediately to the Shop Steward and Personnel Office. Unless there is an official and timely record of an injury or an accident, the claim may be contested by the City of New York.
