TIME AND LEAVE

In order to protect your Health Insurance and secure the proper leave, it is extremely important to check with your Personnel Office about the proper procedure to follow if you will need to be off work for an extended period of time. All leaves must be in keeping with the policies of the College and CUNY Civil Service Regulations;

LEAVE WITH PAY

Provisions are made for absence with pay for death in the immediate family, jury duty, court attendance under subpoena or court order and for attendance at a New York City or State Civil Service CUNY Examination, providing you are not a part of the court action.

LEAVE WITHOUT PAY

Leaves of absence without pay are possible in certain circumstances. Such absences may affect the continuity of employment. Consult with your Supervisor and Personnel Office on how to obtain such a leave after you have notified your Shop Steward.

CHILD CARE LEAVE (MATERNITY LEAVE)

A child care leave of absence without pay will be granted to an employee (male or female) who becomes a parent of a child up to four years of age either by birth or adoption for a period of no more than 48 months.

This allowance is limited to one instance only. All other child care leaves are limited to a 36 month maximum. Consult the contract for further details.

You must arrange with your Personnel Officer the dates and length of your leave.
