FINALLY WE GOT PAID

The economic agreement which was ratified on August 29, 2001, by the members of DC 37 local 384 members has finally been honored.  The 27 month contract, with a 4% increase retroactive to the first day of the contract July 1, 200 and an additional 4% compounded increase on July 1, 2001, was paid to the  members working at the Community colleges on December 7, 2001 and to the members of the Senior colleges on December 27, 2001.
The elimination of employee contribution in Tier 3 and Tier 4 after 10 years service (boosting take home pay by 3%) retro to 10/1/2000 has also been implemented.

The next step will be to make sure those members working in the EOC locations receive their raises and retro money.  We have been talking to CUNY and it is possible that we will have a memorandum of understanding to pay the money very soon.
A critical demand regarding the EOC is the need for retirement benefits.  I am completely focused on this issue and we will continue to put the pressure on.
Once all of our members have received their money, we will proceed with the non-economic portion of our demands, which includes the additional compensation fund of 1%, set aside to help resolve salary inequities.

You will be notified of the next bargaining session date.

PROBLEMS:
Do not contact your human resources director regarding union matters, if you anticipate that you may have a grievance.  As always contact your shop steward/s so that he/she may investigate the matter.  Failure to follow these directives may cause  a delay in reaching a resolution.

Our next general membership meeting will be on April 10, 2002 at New York City Technical College, located in Brooklyn 300 Jay Street
