The contract establishes guidelines for grievances.
Members of Local 384 can avail themselves of the grievance mechanism when violations or disputes over the application or interpretation of the collective bargaining agreement (contract) occurs.
If the employee thinks a matter is grievable or his rights have been violated, the Shop Steward should be consulted. It is possible that many disputes can be settled through dialogue and such a procedure should be explored.
However, should a grievance be filed and reaches the final stage known as arbitration, you will be represented by an attorney from the D.C. 37 Legal Staff.
In any case, Local 384 members have a right to and will be represented by a union representative when a grievance is filed at any form of hearing whether or not charges have been made against the member by the College Administration.
The Shop Steward will keep the Local President informed of all disputes.
