Economic Agreement Between District Council 37 
and the City University Of New York

Terms of Proposed Contract Agreement
Contract value: 9.87% overall
9.27% in wages over 27 months
(July 1, 2000 to September 30, 2002)

1. TERM OF CONTRACT -27 months
2. WAGE INCREASES
4%-1st day of 1st month (7/1/00)
4%-1st day of 13th month (7/1/01) compounded 
(all additions to gross increased by across the board increases )
3. ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION FUND OF 1.0% TO BE DETERMINED BY EACH BARGANING UNIT NEGOTIATING COMITTEE
(To be used for items such as recurring increments, longevity , annuity , unifonm allowance and assignment differentials)
Available on the last day of the contract (9/30/02)
4. JOB SECURITY FOR THE TERM OF THE AGREEMENT
5. WELFARE FUND INCREASES 
$200 per member/retiree annual rate increase to the welfare fund last day of contract
6. PENSION GAINS
Elimination of employee contributions in Tier 3 and Tier 4 after 10 years service (boosting take home pay by 3%) retro to 10/1/2000
Up to two years extra pension credit for Tier I and Tier 2 plans
Greater equity among different pension tiers
Credit for prior service in public sector
Improvement of death benefit
7. HEALTH BENEFIT GAINS
Prescription drug benefit protected and funded
Free asthma and chemotherapy drugs for members in all health plans
Reduced co-pays for injectable medications and certain psychotropic drugs
Unlimited in-network coverage by GHI Mental Health
Outpatient HIP Mental Health visits raised to 60 per year ($10 co-pay)
New, free 30-day Hip inpatient coverage for alcohol and substance abuse treatment
Creation of a national panel of GHI doctors in targeted areas .Increase fee schedule for GHI physicians in targeted areas
8. PERFORMANCE COMPENSATION
The Union acknowledges the Employer's right to pay additional compensation for outstanding performance
The Employer agrees to notify the Union of its intent to pay such additional compensation
9. CONTINUATION OF ALL OTHER TERMS OF THE PREVIOUS ECONOMIC AGREEMENT
