LOCAL 384 EDUCATION CONFERENCE

Local 384’s Education Conference was held December 11-14, 2005 at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  The primary purpose of this conference was to educate Shop Stewards / Executive Board members on how to handle a number of workplace related issues ranging from understanding the contract, employees’ safety and health, workers’ compensation, pension, personal services, duties and responsibilities of the Shop Steward in the workplace and resolving workplace problems.  A number of invited guests from DC37 were in attendance and participated in many of the conferences’ various workshops.  Those guests from DC 37 who made presentations at the Education Conference, included Lillian Roberts, Executive Director, Veronica Montgomery-Costa, President, Stephanie Velez, Director of Professional Division, David Paskin, Assistant Director of Research and Negotiations, Guille Mejia, Principled Program Coordinator of Safety and Health, Hector Cotto, Assistant Director of Professional Division, Dennis Deahn, Director of Field Operations Health and Security, Eric Reid, Supervising Social Worker of Personal Services Unit, Larry Kelly, Assistant Director of Education Department and Rhonda Johnson, Council Representative of Professional Division.
